What is a MiniDisc J-Card?
A MiniDisc J-Card is the folded paper insert found inside many MiniDisc cases. Similar to cassette J-Cards, these inserts provide space for cover artwork, track listings, recording information, dates, and notes.
Many blank MiniDisc cases shipped with simple paper inserts that users could write on by hand. Over time, collectors began designing their own custom artwork and professionally printed inserts.
Today, custom J-Cards are one of the easiest ways to make a MiniDisc project feel complete.
Why MiniDisc J-Cards?
MiniDisc was always a format that encouraged personalization.
People used MiniDiscs for mixtapes, live recordings, DJ sets, language lessons, field recordings, and everyday listening. The J-Card became a place to document what was recorded on the disc and add a bit of personality.
Unlike digital playlists, a MiniDisc J-Card gives your recording a physical identity. It turns a collection of songs into something you can hold, organize, and display.
Why did you make this?
After building generators for VHS tapes, cassette labels, CDs, vinyl packaging, MiniDisc labels, and MiniDisc jewel case inserts, a lot of people asked for support for the smaller MiniDisc packaging formats.
Many collectors still use blank MiniDiscs and custom-recorded discs, but creating inserts usually means manually building templates in Photoshop.
This tool makes it easy to generate authentic-looking MiniDisc J-Cards without having to measure, align, and format everything yourself.
