Okay cool... what's Blockbuster?
Well hello there, young buck!
Blockbuster Video was founded in 1985 and became the world's largest video rental chain. At its peak, it operated more than 9,000 stores worldwide. Although the company closed in 2010, it remains one of the strongest symbols of movie nights and video rental culture.
Today, many collectors recreate that nostalgia by displaying their favorite movies in custom Blockbuster-inspired Blu-ray cases.

Why did you make this?
When I was a kid, Blockbuster was the weekend.
You'd get out of school, head to Blockbuster, spend forever deciding between movies and video games, and finally walk out carrying that blue rental case.
Blockbuster stores were everywhere. You know how there's a Starbucks on every corner today? That's what Blockbuster felt like growing up. I still remember the highway exit that meant we were almost there.
This generator lets you recreate that feeling using the movies you own today on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, or SteelBook editions.
How the Blockbuster Barcode Worked
Every Blockbuster rental had a unique barcode that identified that specific copy in that specific store.
By recreating those details, these Blu-ray sleeves capture one of the little touches that made Blockbuster feel authentic. Use the Store Search above to select a real location, or create your own custom store with whatever information you'd like.

33 = Rental code
06785 = Store number
823426 = Movie Distributor (82) and Release number (3426)
004 = Copy number (which copy of that movie the store owned)
So if you rented The Matrix from the Palo Alto Blockbuster at 3960 El Camino Real, that "06785" would identify that exact store, while the rest of the barcode uniquely identified that particular rental copy.
This generator recreates that numbering system. You can use a real Blockbuster store from the database or enter your own custom information. The barcode automatically follows the same formatting as the original rental covers. For simplicity, the Movie Distributor Number and Release Number are combined using the TMDB ID, although you can customize these values anytime in the Codes tab by editing the Title ID.
Thanks to moe_kay_bonafide for creating the reference image and explaining the numbering system, and to Accurate-Cup-3501 for providing additional historical details!
