VHS Label Generator

How to design VHS Labels

  1. Use the Search above to search for any movie or TV show title
  2. Customize the color scheme and select from available logos
  3. For TV shows, you can specify season and episode information
  4. On desktop, you can download or copy the labels, and edit them into the templates below

How to print VHS labels

Printing the VHS labels is easy. You just need to copy and paste into the templates below in photoshop or you can do it online using Photopea. And then I recommend a laser printer, but inkjet will do fine, too. I've got a DELL 525W laser color printer. I love a chunky home-office laser printer because they can print for days without running out of ink, and they come out nice and dry.

  1. Buy blank label paper: Main | Spine
  2. Download templates: Main | Spine
  3. Or edit using PhotoPea: Main | Spine
  4. When printing, uncheck "Scale to Fit"
  5. These print at 3.0625" × 1.8375" for main labels and 5.85" × 0.6689" spine

What the heck, this is so cool!

I know! This tool handles everything - movie metadata, studio logos, ratings, runtime, and cast information - all formatted to look like an authentic VHS label from the 90s. Want to see what Mad Max Fury Road would look like as a VHS rental? Now you can.

The tool generates both main face labels and spine labels, designed to match standard VHS dimensions. It automatically pulls studio logos, ratings, cast information, and other metadata directly from TMDB.

Why a VHS Label Maker?

I was recently gifted a VHS/TV Combo. It wasn’t long before I started making my own custom VHS tapes. I’ve been playing with building calculators, designers, and other generators, and wanted to see if I could make a VHS label generator, something that would automate the process of pulling the logo, runtime, directors, and top cast. I couldn't find one, so I built it!
