VHS Label & Cover Maker

VHS Slipcover Maker

Quickly make custom VHS slipcases to help you complete your collection. This slipcover generator automatically pulls movie posters, logos, and metadata to design custom sleeve designs for your custom VHS project.

How to make VHS Slipcovers using the designer

  1. Search above 👆 for your movie or TV show title
  2. Customize the color scheme and select from available logos
  3. When you’re ready to print, hit "Copy" and then "Paste & Print" the labels into the printable template. Send it to your print shop, cut it out, glue it up, and slide in your VHS tape.

How to print & cut VHS Slipcovers

Printing this VHS Slipcovers design requires an 11x17 printer. You'll want copy and paste into the templates below in photoshop or you can do it online using Photopea.

  1. Since the paper size is big, you’ll need to take it to your local print shop.
  2. Make sure they print at actual size (100%) and not scaled to fit.
  3. I recommend 12pt to 14pt card stock (110-130gsm). You can also use a thinner stock and spray-mount a second sheet to achieve the thickness.
  4. Templates: Tabloid (11 in.x 17 in.) or for international: A3 (420mm x 297mm)
  5. When printing, DON’T select "Scale to Fit" -- you want to print actual size.
  6. Cut out along the darker lines, fold along the lighter lines.
  7. Use glue or double-sided tape to secure the flaps, and slide it over your VHS case.

What is a VHS Slipcover?

A VHS Slipcover or slipcase is a protective sleeve that slips around a VHS tape. It provides an extra layer of protection and a space for custom artwork. These slip cases were commonly used for special editions and collector's items, allowing for unique designs that stand out on shelves.

Why did you make this?

I was recently gifted a VHS/TV Combo. It wasn't long before I started making my own custom VHS tapes, and my kids wanted in on it too. They wanted to record soooooo many tapes and it was getting chaotic. I started to Photoshop labels and realized it was super tedious.

I wanted to find a VHS label generator -- something that would automatically pull the logo, runtime, directors, and top cast. I couldn't find one, so I built it! I ended up getting a lot of feedback from folks wanting to make full sleeve covers, so I added that, too and now we’ve got several more old media generators in the works.
